Frequently Asked Questions

On-campus courses are offered three times a year in March (two weeks), June (one week), and September (two weeks). To see the schedule, visit the Stanford Campus Schedule.

Online courses are available anytime, from any Internet connection.

Onsite courses are available by arrangement.

The Stanford Advanced Project Management certificate requires taking three core courses and three elective courses.

If taking on-campus courses exclusively, you can complete the certificate by taking 4 courses in March or September and the remaining two at the following on-campus session (approximately 4 months). Most participants take a year to complete the certificate.

Online courses are self-paced, and each course is approximately 20 hours of material. If you take the courses full-time, you can average one course every 2.5 days and thereby complete the certificate in as few as 3 business weeks (15 days). Most participants take at least 6 months to complete the certificate online.

The majority of Stanford Advanced Project Management participants take a combination of on campus and online courses to earn the certificate.

If taking a course on campus, you do not have to take a test, however, we do require that you are present for the entire course. You may only miss 30 minutes for breaks, late arrivals, and business calls. If you do miss more than 30 minutes, we require you to do a make-up assignment prior to receiving a certificate of completion for the course.

If taking a course online, participants are required to successfully complete an online, multiple choice test at the end of each course. A score of 85% or higher must be achieved on the test in order to pass the course and be eligible for Continuing Education Units, PDUs and credit toward the Certificate.

Participants have the opportunity to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from Stanford University, 2 CEUs per course. There is a $75 processing fee per course, payable upon registration for the course.
