Stanford Advanced Project Management

Certificate Program

About the program

In today's business environment it is essential for organizations to develop project managers who can complete individual projects on time and within budget. It is even more critical to develop an organization that can leverage its project management capability into a key competitive advantage in an ever-changing marketplace.

The Stanford Advanced Project Management Certificate program provides participants the advanced skills needed to execute business strategies effectively. They receive Stanford theory, combined with practical instruction on the processes, organizational structures and tools to ensure their project work yields the desired business results.

Earning the certificate

Individuals completing six courses, including three required courses, will receive the Stanford Advanced Project Management certificate. This certificate grants the professional credential of Stanford Certified Project Manager (SCPM), which may be used on business cards and resumes. Records are archived with Stanford University at the Stanford Center for Professional Development office and are available for verification upon request.

Courses may be taken in any order and any method of instruction - on-campus, on-line or on-site at your organization. However, we highly recommend that you take Converting Strategy into Action as your first course, as it introduces the framework for all the other courses in the program.

Stanford Transcript

Participants requiring a Stanford University transcript will need to register for Continuing Education Units (CEU's). Transcripts are mailed by the Continuing Studies department and take approximately 6 weeks from course completion.

Professional Development Units

The Stanford Center for Professional Development is a Registered Education Provider for the Project Managment Institute (PMI). Professional Development Units (PDU's) may be earned for each course taken as part of the Stanford Advanced Project Management Program to maintain certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP®).
